A Little Taste of Family from Everywhere

This year I decided to make a cookbook for all the ladies within my immediate family as a holiday gift. Now when I say immediate family I am not referring to only my mother and my sister but now my mother-in-law and three of my sister-in-law's.

Within this cookbook, I decided to incorporate a bit of heritage from each of us. My mother has a reputation as being a phenomenal cook in the kitchen and so I included some Filipino recipes and some recipes from my Scandinavian grandmother. Of course I could not forget some of my mother-in-law's best recipes.  All of which my husband grew up indulging in—I am certain these recipes will prove themselves useful to me when the time comes. (Laughs) My sister-in-law (my brother's wife) is Honduran so a few recipes from her background spiced up the cookbook. And lastly, my brother-in-law's wife is Lebanese. Her mother is a great cook and I could not have been more excited to incorporate her oh-so-yummy recipes.

Trying my best to be subtle with this project, I had began asking all of my family members close to six months in advance for their recipes. Some of which it was a bit more work to retrieve these recipes from—my recipe-pestering gave my gift idea away. Haha. But either way, it proved to be a hit and I would highly suggest for anyone with a family who enjoys being in the kitchen to consider this project as a gift.
